7 Ways To Spring Clean Your Life

Let us help you get organized and motivated with our top tips for decluttering your life.
  • 5 minute read time

It’s spring, the season of brightness and lightness and change and renewal. What better time to give yourself a bit of a life overhaul! Make space for new and exciting things by clearing out the clutter and de-stressing your life

1 Kitchen Cupboard Clear Out
It can be a tricky job to start but oh so satisfying when it’s done! Plus it’s a great way to make sure you’re well stocked on handy, healthy Unislim staples like passata, spray oil, herbs, and spices. Ditch anything that’s past its sell-by date, and anything you know you’re never going to use, whether it’s a strange sachet of…something or a bewildering gadget you bought but don’t know what it’s for.

2 Ditch the ‘stuff’
When was the last time you did a proper clear-out? Of your wardrobe, your bookshelves, your makeup drawer? Chances are you have a lot more ‘stuff’ than you thought! Take a day to go through everything, making three piles: Keep, Bin, Charity. If you have trouble deciding on what to get rid of, enlist a friend to help.

3 The One In, One Out rule.
Most of us have a weak spot when it comes to purchases whether it’s books, shoes, DVDs or handbags. After an initial (ruthless!) clear out, adopt a one in, one out rule. In other words, you have to get rid of one item if you buy anything new.

4 Make Friends With Lists
When you’ve lots going on, that feeling of having to be in five places at once can be very stressful. Whether it’s family, social or work-related, make a list of all the things you have to do. Prioritise them and stick to the list as much as you can, focusing on one thing at a time until everything is done. Then grab a big pen and enjoy ticking everything off the list!

5 Streamline your digital life
If it takes you ages to go through your emails, or your Facebook feed is full of updates from people you don’t know or topics you’ve no interest in, it’s time for a spring clean. Unsubscribe from mailing lists, cancel subscriptions and delete those acquaintances you don’t really want to keep in touch with.

6 Learn to say ‘No’
This is a big, big problem for women, mums in particular. Women can be terrible at saying yes to every request and demand on their time. If you’re feeling overstretched or have just too much going on, don’t be afraid to say no sometimes – and don’t be afraid to ask for help sometimes too.

7 Calm your mind
Modern life is busy and having some time to yourself, away from noise and distraction is so important for your mental health. Give yourself some ‘me’ time every day. Pop on those runners and head out for a morning walk, or in the brighter evenings which are creeping in now. Focus on the sights and sounds of nature and let the worries of the day slip away. It’ll keep you fit and healthy and will help you to sleep better too.
