Detox fruit and veg smoothie

If you think food can't be healthy and tasty then think again please. This fruit and veg smoothie is an absolute riot of flavours and you will not only feel good drinking it, but it will give you a lovely kick. Ginger does that to you. It wakes you up and perks you up and really does wonder for the digestive system. There is a great balance of taste in this detox drink, the fire of the ginger complements the pineapple and bananas but is taken down a notch by the almond milk. Overall this is a real bit of zingy goodness and a doodle to make. Pour it over a large icecube for a bit of extra freshness on a summer morning and you will nearly feel like you're on holiday. This detox fruit and veg smoothie is a fun and healthy way to start the day. Make it and enjoy it!

Ingredients

2 slices of fresh pineapple, peeled and chopped

2 small bananas,peeled

1 kiwi fruit, peeled and sliced

2 handfuls of baby spinach leaves (or shredded kale)

2.5cm piece of fresh root ginger, peeled and chopped

480ml unsweetened almond milk or soya milk

2tsp of linseeds

2tsp of flaked almonds

1tsp of chia seeds

Method
  • Put the fruit, spinach, and ginger in a blender. Add the milk and linseeds and, holding the lid of the blender firmly in place, blitz until well combined and smooth. If the smoothie is too thick for your taste, add a little water to get desired consistency.
  • Pour into 2 glasses (or jars) and serve immediately topped with the almond and chia seeds. Enjoy this smoothie with 30g porridge oats made with skimmed milk.
