From a gentle kiss on a grazed knee to a firm hug after a heartbreak, a mother’s love and comfort extends to every moment of our lives. If you’re a mum yourself, or if Sunday is about celebrating a special maternal figure in your life, take time out to honour this very important relationship and make some memories together.
Here’s to all the mothers out there – we salute you, and thank you for every little expression of love you give.

“My amazing and beautiful mammy is always there for me and my two kids. She took the three of us in while I was in and out of hospital for months on end.
She’s supported me through everything, including my Unislim journey.
I’m looking forward to having dinner with her this Mother’s Day.” – Mandy
“My mum is the strongest woman I know. If I could be half the person she is, I’d be blessed.
She has been in and out of hospital the last three months. She had to spend Christmas alone in hospital was so hard for us all, but she spent the time trying to be cheerful to keep our spirits up. She is home now and awaiting a return visit for another procedure. I’m going to spoil her rotten!” – Lisa
“I plan on having a lie-on on Sunday with breakfast in bed,
a foot rub – my daughter’s speciality, bear hugs for as long as I like with my son, and my hubby is doing all the housework… I made a Mother’s Day wish list, so any of the above is fine with me! Then a Zoom call with my mam and sisters and maybe a glass or two of wine… Absolutely bliss.” – Christina
“I’m doing Christmas dinner on Mother’s Day for my family, as we all had Covid at Christmas. Possibly a glass or two of wine also.” – Bernie
“My mum is our pint-size rock star. She raised myself and my older sister all on her own, all the while running our family pub and having a full-time job outside of the pub to keep a roof over our heads.
She is not only the best mam because she drove me to my Unislim class every week, but the best nana to our kids.
They’ve made up a little hamper of her favourite things with a voucher for her favourite shop. We can’t celebrate together this year because I’m so poorly, but I’ll wave out the window at her.” – Joanne
“My mother just took up walking since Covid, so we have a nice outfit to give her for her walks… She did give us a few hints!” – Monica
“My mam Trish is also a Unislim member. She gives me a good dose of cop-on when I’m ready to quit and reminds me how far I’ve come. She is a frontline worker (Montessori teacher) and is in her last few months of her part-time degree. She puts up with me and my three siblings and five grandchildren. Mam is a part of my social bubble. I’m my son’s carer and she helps us all the time too. For Mother’s Day, my husband is making dinner and mammy is relaxing. We’ll leave both nannies’ presents at their front doors.” – Mary Louise
“My wonderful sister is a mum and is one in a million. She has always been there for me.
My mam has passed away, but the support and help my sister has given me over the years with my special needs daughter – I can never be able to thank her enough. She is my walking partner and always by my side.” – Valarie
“My mom is one in a million.
She minds us all, from kids to picking up our Jack Russell for the day when we’re working. I’m hoping to cook her a nice Sunday lunch for Mother’s Day.” – Norma
“My mom is in heaven, and my children are all over the world, but I’m going to be talking to all my children and grandchildren – from Montreal, San Francisco and Dublin – on WhatsApp video on Mother’s Day and then I’m having a lazy day.” – Barbara
“My mum is honestly the best. She helps me out all the time and looks after my son while I am working. I’m looking forward to spoiling her on Sunday.” – Bróna
“I am a single parent and don’t know what I would do without my mum. She always encouraged me to join Unislim and lose the weight, and after a few false starts, I’m finally doing it! Mother’s Day will be a nice roast dinner at mum’s house!” – Helen
“My mam is my role model. She’s my confidant and best friend rolled into one. I’ve seen her juggle a full-time job, part-time college, family and home with caring for my grandad and uncle all at the same time, and she always did so with her beautiful smile.
