Is Breakfast really the most important meal of the day?

  • 3 minute read time

In our opinion, YES! Breakfast kick-starts your metabolism, helping you burn calories throughout the day. It also gives you the energy you need to get things done and helps you focus at work or at school. Here are a few reasons to consider:

It Increases your good cholesterol.

Many studies have linked eating breakfast to good health, including better memory and concentration, lower levels of bad cholesterol, and lower chances of getting diabetes, heart disease, and being overweight.

You consume less calories.

Studies consistently show that those who eat breakfast tend to consume fewer calories throughout the day compared to those who skip it. When you fuel up in the morning, you’re less likely to overeat later in the day, curbing those mid-morning or late-night cravings that often sabotage weight loss efforts

You make better choices.

Our members tell us that when they start the day with a nutritious breakfast, it has a trickle effect throughout the day, with one good choice leading to many more better food choices throughout the day.

Kids need it as much as us!

Kids need a good breakfast because it provides essential energy and nutrients that support their growth, cognitive development, and overall health. A nutritious breakfast enhances concentration, memory, and academic performance, while also helping regulate appetite and maintain a healthy weight. Healthy habits are not just for adults!

A scone isn’t going to cut it

A scone, cereal bar or the like is not a good breakfast choice because it is typically high in refined carbs and  lacking in essential nutrients. The high sugar content can lead to a rapid spike in blood glucose levels followed by a crash, which can cause energy slumps, decreased concentration, and irritability. Starting the day with a balanced nutritious breakfast is the best possible thing you can do for your health and wellbeing.

Breakfast is an opportunity to consume essential nutrients that might be missed later in the day. A balanced breakfast can provide important vitamins and minerals such as calcium, vitamin D, fibre, and protein, which are critical for growth and development, so the next time you consider skipping breakfast, think again!
