Unislim – Celebrating 45 Years

This month, 45 years ago, the very first Unislim class opened its doors in Warrenpoint, Newry.

Having struggled to lose baby weight after the birth of her 3 children, Agnes McCourt made a decision that would change her life – and the lives of thousands of people across the country.

What started as a chat among friends over a cuppa at the kitchen table became a nationwide phenomenon at a time when slimming clubs, gyms, fitness classes and mindfulness were unheard of.  Agnes was ahead of her time.

Agnes quickly became known as “the woman who could talk the weight off you” and Unislim classes sprang up in towns in every county in Ireland.

Now 45 years later, Unislim is still very much a family business, with Agnes’ daughter Fiona Gratzer at the helm.

With over 300 weekly classes nationwide, Unislim continues to grow, supporting and helping people lose weight and feel great. Keeping abreast of the most up-to-date studies on health, nutrition and fitness, we are constantly developing new technology to help give you the best tools to help you on your journey.

From the beginning, Unislim has been about togetherness. Creating communities, being surrounded by like-minded people, supporting, guiding and motivating you every step of the way – is the backbone of what we do. In fact, Unislim is short for ‘United We Slim’ – so it’s no wonder that our motto is #togetherwerule

So on our 45th Anniversary, we celebrate every single pound and stone lost, every hug of support, each cheer, smile, laugh and joyful tear that we have shared with you over the years. It’s been a hell of a ride and we are excited for what the next 45 years will bring!
