Maggs Jacob lost over 6st by planning ahead!

Performing artist Maggs is someone whose personality is large, even though she has shrunk considerably in the past 18 months. A woman who’s made for the stage, it was an audition that finally struck an embarassing chord. “I was trying out for a part in Oklahoma where my opposite man had to lift me up and say, “How’s my 112 pound cupcake?”. I was over 250 pounds (18 stone) st the time, and something inside me just died. I was sick of being the fat, funny girl, and the parts I wanted to play wern’t available, so even though I was madly busy, I realised I had to do something. Looking back now, it was my best move ever.” Mags joined her local Unislim class in Arklow and got going. “I started the plan immediately and it kicked in quickly. It’s easy to follow and very well laid out. In honesty, nothing about Unislim has been difficult,” she smiles. “For me, the trick is in planning. I plan, plan and plan some more. And then I plan a contingency. Even if I get home late, I’ll cook as I’m happier being organised. Maggs is a regular on the Unislim Facebook Chatrooom, sharing tips and knowledge. “I use it as a way to remind myself of the plan, like a quiz.” And with the support of her leader Anne, Maggs agrees that she’s a new woman. “I’m happy! I never realised how much my weight was holding me back, but I feel great now. And my asthma has cleared up.” As for the starring roles, there’s good news there too. “Thanks to Unislim I’m now playing my dream part- that of sister Mary Robert in the Wexford Light Opera Society’s production of Sister Act.”
