Carol Cryan loves setting a goal and smashing it. Which is exactly what she did when she set herself the target to lose four stone and run a 5km in less than 30 minutes!
I struggled with weight all my life. I tried various weight-loss programmes and did lose weight but it always crept back up again. So on the 10th of January 2018 I joined Unislim and, stepping on the scales, I was shocked at my weight. I wasn’t happy with how I looked but never did anything about it. Coincidentally I reached my target and got my Free Slim on same date the following year. I lost just over 4 stone, I’m now 9 stone 7.5lbs.
I didn’t go on this journey for health reasons, I did it to look well, to get clothes to fit. I was sick and tired of the way I looked. I wasn’t able to do anything, even walking was a hassle.
While I had lost weight on other programmes, they were very restrictive and more like diets, rather than a healthy way of life. Unislim has been one of the best things I’ve ever done. It’s far more sustainable than any other weight loss programme I’ve done.
You learn something from other members or your leader at every class. I’ve met some wonderful, inspirational people through Unislim. We’ve all got the same struggles going on.
Soon after I joined Unislim I started doing Park Run which has also been one of the best things I’ve ever done. I would never have been able to do that, it’s fantastic! I also had sleep apnea which I no longer have. That’s another great effect of the new lifestyle. It’s not just food, my whole life has changed.
Three years ago I gave up alcohol. Now I find that I’m at an advantage on the plan because I don’t get the nibbles after a night out and don’t have to use my Bites on alcohol! I still love my treats. If I’m going out for something to eat I research the place better and know I can stay on plan. . . with a dessert of course!
The plan is completely easy now, I don’t even have to think about it, it’s just a way of life. I’m down to target but I’ll continue to go to class every week, it’s important to be accountable.
I think some people who want to lose weight want it to happen instantly. They think of it as a diet. I think of it as a long term thing rather than a quick fix solution.
My husband was in and out for surgery a lot in the last two years, it was extremely stressful but I’m much more able to deal with it now because I feel I have my life under control.
I always thought I had bigger bones. I never ever thought I’d be wearing size 8 or 10! Now I can pick up clothes without having to try them on and I know they’ll fit and look good.
I have a different outlook on life. I feel good about myself. The whole family is living a healthier lifestyle so everyone is benefiting.
A couple of years ago I wouldn’t have been up and out early on a Saturday morning to do a park run! Now I’m up at 5 am every morning. I love my breakfast, I sit and enjoy it and listen to the birds, things I never appreciated before I now appreciate. I really enjoy the simple things again. It’s fantastic.
I can see myself going to Unislim forever.
