Meet The Unislimmer Of The Year Winners!

After an incredible build up for the Unislimmer Of The Year Awards, we are delighted to announce our winners!

Unislim Man Of The Year 2016:  Martin Loftus (46), a father of three from Newcastle West used to eat a full Irish for breakfast every day, but has now shed a staggering 8 stone 8lbs.

Unislim Woman Of The Year 2016:  Sharon Murphy (31) from Bunclody in Co. Wexford, lost 6 stone 6lbs after having her fourth child and loves her sensational new look.

Unislim Youth Ambassador: Super student Sorcha Doyle (20) from Bray lost 4 stone 7lbs.  She has taken back her life and seen her confidence and happiness grow.

Martin Loftus, Unislim Man of the Year 2016 – “It’s mind-blowing”

Former shift worker Martin tipped the scales at 21st 10lbs when he first attended a Unislim class in Newcastle West in Co. Limerick. 18 months later, Martin is now a full time Care Assistant having lost 8st 8lbs and says his weight loss transformation that has earned him the title of Unislim Man of the Year has “blown his mind” and he encourages other men who face a battle with their weight to take the bull by the horns and address their struggles head-on:

“I battled for years with my weight, and saw it as a mountain I’d never climb. Now 18 months later, I’m the Unislim Man of the Year and I’m thrilled with myself. There’s more and more guys coming to the classes, and it’s great to have a friendly, non-judgemental space like the Unislim classes to be yourself and transform your life by shifting the pounds and taking on a healthy new lease on life!”

Sharon Murphy, Unislim Woman of the year 2016  – “I’m one happy Mammy”

Competing against 13 other finalists, each celebrating their extraordinary new looks and dramatic weight loss stories, Sharon earned the coveted title of Unislim Woman of the Year after she lost almost half her current weight just a year after giving birth to her fourth baby, Sharon also won the ‘Unislim People’s Choice’ award, winning the majority of votes of the Unislim online community.

“I’m a stay at home mum of four gorgeous children all under the age of nine. During my last pregnancy I gained almost five stone and became depressed, turning to food for comfort.  Last year, I decided I need to make a change and I returned to Unislim just a month after giving birth. Now I feel like a completely different woman both inside and out. I’ve never felt as fit and healthy I now have loads of energy for my very active kids and I’m loving my new look and new life to the full!”

Both winners were presented with a cheque for €1,000 each, as well as fabulous goody bag from Rimmel.

Unislim Youth Ambassador of the Year 2016

UCD student Sorcha Doyle (20) from Bray who lost 4st 7.5lbs was crowned ‘Unislim Youth Ambassador of the Year 2016’.

Sorcha, who developed arthritis with the pressure of her weight on her joints, said the win represents an extraordinary personal journey that has seen her transform her life beyond recognition:

“For as long as I can remember I have been the chubby, excitable kid, I became the butt of all jokes and I began to feel ashamed. I tried every diet you can think of, diet pills, shakes, even starved myself. Eventually, developing arthritis with the pressure on the joints in my knee, that’s when I found out I weighed 236 pounds at only 19 years of age and knew I had a problem. With Unislim, I finally learned to take care of myself properly- I discovered the benefits of real nutrition, and how to achieve a positive balance in mind and body mind. Now, four and a half stone lighter, my health has improved and I can genuinely say I love my body and I’m proud of who I am.”
