Keva’s story is one of sheer inspiration – from post-natal depression to reaching her target of 6 stone weight loss.
Killiney native, Keva O’Neill Jenkins has a story that a lot of new mums will associate with. After the birth of her son 2 years ago, she found herself in a cycle of comfort eating, convenience food, living in tracksuits and a major loss of confidence. Having being diagnosed with post-natal depression and moving into a size 18, Keva decided enough was enough.
In the past year, my life has changed so much, not only have I reclaimed my life, I am fitter, stronger, healthier and with more energy than ever before. All through my weight loss – my determination was fuelled by the fact that I wanted to be the best mum to my son Callum – I wanted to be able to run around with him and be the healthy mum he deserved.
Another driving force in her weight loss was her Wedding Day. “I bought a dress on Ebay, as I simply couldn’t’ find one that would fit me in the shops, but by the time my wedding rolled around, it was too big for me and I ended up getting a new size 12 dress, that had to be taken in before the wedding! Seeing my husband Derek’s face as I walked up the aisle to him is a memory I will never forget – I felt like a princess and my fairytale had come through”.
Keva says that key to her weight loss was how her Unislim leader Jean helped her to identify and combat her trouble spots, such as emotional eating. Keva has learned lots of new ways to cope like planning her meals well in advance.
“Now that I’m at my target weight, my leader is helping me to maintain it and gives me little challenges to keep me motivated.” Keva now has a more positive outlook on life and says it’s important that her son shares the same healthy lifestyle, “I want to make sure my son Callum is healthy and that he’s brought up on good, nutritious food – Unislim has become part of our family – we all benefit”.
Keva was delighted to be crowned Most Motivational Unislimmer of the Year on 18th April 2015.
